Technical textiles, consisting of fibres, fabrics and threads, range from extremely soft to extremely tough. They make more than effective replacements for traditional materials such as steel, concrete and asbestos.
The main areas of use for so-called technical textiles are the automotive industry, environmental technology and protective clothing. In contrast to fashion textiles, technical textiles perform primarily technical functions.
