With the acknowledged reliability of its textiles and the Oeko Tex Standard 100, the textile and clothing industry has established an internationally applicable safety system with objective, scientifically veriable checks.
The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 sets new limits. For threads, fabrics and textile products of all kinds, compliance limits have been established for pollutants, in line with the latest scientific findings.
Some examples of these compliance limits are: - Formaldehyde-free or limited formaldehyde content according to international legislation in force. - Pesticide content may not be higher than permitted limits in fruit and vegetables. - Free of carcinogens or suspected carcinogenic or allergenic dyestuffs, which means: skin-friendly neutral pH-value - Free of hazardous dyes and dyestuff residues which can be absorbed through the skin. - Baby clothing to remain colourfast despite saliva or sweat, and be safe to put in a baby's mouth. Only manufacturers who subject themselves to stringent testing and inspection and ensure verifiable quality assurance may sell their products with the Oeko-Tex 100 label.
This award or label is registered as an internaional trade mark ® and is legally protected.
Textiles marked with the Oeko-Tex test symbol have been scientifically tested to ensure that they do not contain harmful levels of hazardous substances and are safe for the consumer.
